Thumbs up 2009 AFG Funding Amounts

Well folks it appears that we are about 2 weeks away from the award announcements starting. This is what will be available to fund Ops & Vehicles this year.

    Appropriation: $565,000,000

    Ops: $366,150,000 (65%)

    Vehicles: $141,250,000 (25%)

    Good luck to everyone.

Well, do we think all the vehicle amounts will be awarded this year?

The AFG does not have to meet that $$$ amount. That is the max. amount that can be spent on vehicles.

Thru your updates for 08, there was some of the $$ apparantly left out for vehicles and went to ops?

That would be the most likely scenario, but my data also shows that just over $5 million was not even appropriated during '08.

Um, did not realize that, was that excluded from the admin appropriation?

That figure could be higher as the AFG is typically very efficient and uses only 2-3% of the funding for Admin. I deducted the max. of 5% from the appropriation to determine the available funding.

    For 2009 AFG:

Up to 2 percent of appropriated funds ($11.3 million) may be used for awards to nonaffiliated EMS organizations.

That sure doesn't go far. Hit that once and have blanked since.

I'd "guess" alot. Between the amount reported here, and just general statistics of how many I have (77%) of the ones I did, it looks like a good bunch. There's no telling exactly how many will be in "Round 1" though. That will be just however many they can process after reductions and 10Qs.

I understand the initial recommendation is 3,835 awards this year.
