In 1946 (just after WWII) the East Berlin Volunteer Fire Company of Pennsylvania purchased from the American Fire Apparatus Company this rig for $1400. East Berlin took care of her for 20 years. When the Liberty Fire Company of East Berlin purchased their 1966 new engine, the decision was made by the membership to sell the 1946 Dodge/American Fire Apparatus engine. The Parkville Fire Company from Penn Township in Hanover purchased the Dodge and after many years of service loaned it to the Shrewsbury Fire Company, after Shrewsbury had a fire that destroyed their firehouse and all their equipment. The 1946 Dodge was returned to Parkville Fire Company. From there, the Parkville Fire Company sold the Dodge engine to a farmer near Manchester, PA to provide irrigation for his farm, he decided it was time to sell the engine since it wasn't being used and only taking up room in his shed. An active fireman from the Liberty Fire Company heard about this engine being up for sale. He took it home to East Berlin to restore her. Years after he sold the engine to a private collector from Baltimore who took great care of her. On January 23, 2010 my family purchased this fine rig for me.....I think because they want to keep me out of the bars. It's new home is on Long Island. The rig is almost ready for it's wet down party. MANY friends and family have helped me with this dream. My brother Joe was the shaker and mover on this. THANK YOU ALL.
