    Default Another Gadget...

Has anyone actually had much use for one of these? It's some sort of ninja firefighting multi-tool.

meh... I think it's trying to be too many things and it really looks gimmicky. And at $125, forget it!

Plus, I think there'd be too many injuries of FFs when we start throwing them at stuff (or each other).

The 2 1/2" ergonomical handgrip is nice, but I'm not going to spend that much money just for that.

Someone emailed that to me this week, and I think it could be a useful tool. I like the different methods of rappelling it offers. But as others have said, at $125 it is kind of pricey.

Personally, I'm from a small department and we dont do much repelling and I just don't see enough versitility for 125$ for my dept.

Use No. 13 - Hanging slabs of beef in the FD meat locker.
Use No. 14 - Impaling passer-by's on bicycles.
Use No. 15 - Picking your partners nose (or lower).
Use No. 16 - Adding another 1.5 pounds of stuff in your pockets.
    Use No. 17 - I'll bet you can hang 3 or 4 FIT-5 Gizmo's from THIS Gizmo!

That makes it a SUPER GIZMO!!!!!

Wow! The uses are endless! Either that, or in the end, it's useless....

I think I could replace this with a pair of channel locks, a hose strap, and a spanner wrench. The channel locks and hose strap can be bought for under $15 and the spanner is plentiful on the engines so I can grab it easy. As for the rappelling feature, don't really see a need for it. If I need to, I'll need more than just the gimmicky figure 8 multitool in my pocket.

The only way it would be a super gizmo is if they make a package deal - this hook and two fit 5's. Now we are talking.

who would actually repell with this thing. I mean after you have used this to break hose couplings and shut off water/gas, drop it a few hundred times out of your pockets. who would hang off the side of the buildding with this thing.

i think i will stick to a rated figure 8 or other device
