Are the trees hiding more apparatus or do they only have an engine and truck at that?

Hard to tell the specifics from the video, but if the fire is up into the attic, but going inside and pulling ceilings and placing lines in the right spot you can contain the fire to that part of the building. If you come at it from the top with ladder pipes and master stream, you can and probably will push the fire down into the living space and throughout the attic.

If you have the manpower to do it, while attacking it from the inside guys can be doing salvage operations and you can do a lot minimize property loss.

Good stop, although I thought it was going to walk the dog on them for a minute.

No need. Looks like your run of the mill attic fire. Go in, pull ceiling, put out the fire.

So with attic fire you go inside bring down the ceiling and hit the attic that way? makes since just clarifying.

That is the accepted practice here. Fight it upwards, instead of pushing it back down into the house like nameless said.

And the engine stopped short of the house, and blocked out the truck. Not what I'd want to be doing with fire through the roof on arrival.

Proby, a fire like that is where you really have the difference between saving the building and a person's belongings and just utterly destroying everything the person owns. and despite what a couple people will say, we are in the business of protecting property.

Why? It seemed like a reasonably safe operation with adequate resources and water supply in a structure with limited fire conditions and good stability, with a high probability of a successful outcome.

If in an area with adequate hydrants and adequate responding manpower, we would have handled it in the same manner.

Change either one of those varaible however, and I would have had no issue with an exterior rather than an interior operation as property is not worth firefighter lives.

Now that civilian operating without PPE, communications and a Class I engine and a helicopter for backup - That's a different story.
