    Default SCG start-up

    Has anyone who received a SCG actually received clearance from DHS yet to start their project? It's been 4 months now since the award and everything was submitted on time for the environmental clearance - still waiting for approval. Little to no communication at all from DHS - anybody else have a better experience so far?

    You are not alone. I can't even get a reply to my emailed questions. Had this been a regular construction project, I could have had steel up already. I am beginning to wonder if I will break ground in 2010. Don't get me wrong, I am very grateful for the award . . . just a little discouraged.

    That "shovel ready", as in the floor of a hog house. Not as start building.

    If this was serious Congress would have suspended Davis-Bacon, arch. review, historical review, enviro review etc.

    That would put too many bureaucrats out of jobs and add to unemployment.

    Hopefully they turn around payment requests faster than that. You start missing progress payments you will be amazed how fast a contractor will bail out on your project, and rightfully so.

    There are a few fire departments that have had some movement in their Environmental approvals, but not many. Most of us are just waiting.
