    Default FRI 2010- Chicago?

Has anyone ever been to Fire Rescue International? I believe it has been held in Denver the past few years. I go to FDIC every year and that is a awesome conference. I do not live too far from Chicago so I thought I would check FRI out. The floor plan looks pretty big. How is this show? Thanks

We have been sending members to the show portion of FRI for the past several years, when it was in Dallas and New Orleans. The Deputy Chief attended the classroom portion for the first time last year. He will be attending it this year in Chicago.

Basically anyone that sells just about anything to have to do with any aspect of the fire service is there.

We have never sent members to FDIC, but we will be sending the Asst. Chief and a Captain this year.

Up until the past 3 years, the classroom portion of both was a little pricey for our budget and 1 person attending, when factoring in the total cost, wasn't enough bang for the buck. Now that our budget has increased, it's a cost we can absorb without an effect on the remainder of the budget.

I will be attending the National Fire Academy in August, and a WMD school outside of Reno NV after that.

I'm scheduled for FDIC two years from now, though given the choice, would much rather attend the national Fire Academy.

The good thing about the NFA is that it carries no significant cost.

I've been to FRI a few times because the military partners its conference with it. FRI rotates around, this past year it was in Dallas. I have also been to FDIC.

FRI is sponsored by the IAFC and is aimed at chiefs and administrators. FDIC is geared for firefighters/company officers. Unless you are a chief or about to become one, I'd spend my money at FDIC. If you are close by and don't need to pay for a motel, then it might be a good day trip just for the exhibit floor.

Actually it's a no cost deal in LA as the State Firefighters Association will cover the meal ticket for the department and give the firefighter a $150 stipend, which covers a shirt, the class picture and a night or two at the pub.
