A little background:
I just applied to become a fixed wing pilot for the USFS. I have many questions about the job itself, hiring process, my qualifications, and the hiring outlook for USFS. A "tentatively passed basic qualifications" has come up on the GS-9 column which I hope is a good sign. How many people actually apply for these jobs? I am just wondering to see if I have a chance or not. Any help would be great!

Well I work for the FS..I would say you are the first person I know.
Most pilots are contractors. Very few are not.
Good luck. Hopefully welcome to the family.
