From the National Journal online (funny, I looked for this story in the MSM and couldn't find it)"

    Obama Hits Lowest Approval Mark
    February 8, 2010 12:58 PM

Independent voters see Pres. Obama in a negative light by a nearly 2-1 margin, according to a new Marist College survey, while almost half of voters say he has failed to meet their expectations.

The poll, conducted Feb. 1-3, showed just 44% of registered voters approving of Obama's job as president. 47% disapprove. But among indie voters, Obama's approval rating sits at a terrible 29%, while his disapproval rating is at 57%.

Obama's 44% job approval rating is the lowest he has scored in any non-internet poll since moving into the WH, according to a review of data compiled by Pollster.com.

And while GOPers strive to avoid attacking Obama personally, for fear of offending voters who see him in a favorable light personally, even that aura of invincibility is wearing off. Independent voters view Obama negatively, too, by a 39% favorable to 52% unfavorable margin. All registered voters still see Obama favorably by a 50%-44% margin, but that's down 5 points in just 2 months.

Voters are disappointed in what they got with Obama's first year. The poll shows 47% believe Obama has failed to meet their expectations -- including a quarter of Dems, 65% of GOPers and 53% of indie voters -- while just 42% say he has met their expectations. 38% say Obama's policies are moving the country in the wrong direction, while 37% say they're making the country better.

Meanwhile, members of Congress should brace for a difficult election year. 42% of registered voters said they would back their current member of Congress, while 44% said they would support someone else -- a drop of 9 points in support of the incumbent in just 2 months.

The Marist College poll surveyed 910 registered voters for a margin of error of +/- 3.2%.

You're so mean to Barry. Somehow ABC works their poll to find positives for the lameduck.

"56% approve of his handling of terrorism" The real laugher though-

"HEALTH Ė Health care may be a test case. Views on the overall plan as it currently stands are at a near-even division Ė 46 percent in favor, 49 percent opposed. Equally important, though, is that the public does not want to see the issue abandoned. Americans by a broad 63-34 percent say lawmakers in Washington should keep trying to pass a comprehensive health care reform plan, rather than giving up on it.

That doesnít mean they think itíll happen: The public divides evenly, 48-46 percent, on whether comprehensive reform has a chance of becoming law this year, or is dead.

An evaluation of the charms vs. the flaws in reform, from the publicís perspective, is instructive. Several main elements remain broadly popular: Eighty percent of Americans support banning limits on pre-existing conditions. Seventy-two percent favor an employer mandate, requiring employers to offer health insurance to their full-time employees. And fewer but still 56 percent support a personal mandate requiring all Americans to have health insurance, either from work or another source, with assistance to help low-income people foot the bill."

    What a joke.

WABC Radio just had a report on a poll that said 48% of registered voters would vote for a hypothetical Republican candidate in a race against Pres. Obama. I missed the source of the poll.

I don't care who took the poll, that does not bode well for Pres. Obama.

I'm sure things like this add to his popularity....

Obama underwrites off shore oil drilling in BRAZIL

A segment of the "Glen Beck Show" on FOX (Fox Cable News)
    was the following:

"Today, even though President Obama is against off shore drilling for
our country, he signed an executive order to loan 2 Billion of our
taxpayers dollars to a Brazilian Oil Exploration Company (which is
the 8th largest company in the entire world) to drill for oil off the
coast of Brazil ! The oil that comes from this operation is for the
sole purpose and use of China and NOT THE USA! Now here's the
real clincher...the Chinese government is under contract to purchase
all the oil that this oil field will produce, which is hundreds of
    millions of barrels of oil".
We have absolutely no gain from this transaction whatsoever!

    Wait, it gets more interesting.

Guess who is the largest individual stockholder of this Brazilian
Oil Company and who would benefit most from this? It is American
BILLIONAIRE, George Soros, who was one of President Obama's most
generous financial supporter during his campaign.

If you are able to connect the dots and follow the money, you are
probably as upset as I am. Not a word of this transaction was
broadcast on any of the other news networks!

Forward this factual e-mail to others who care about this country and
where it is going. Also, let all of your Government representatives
know how you feel about this.

Below is the Wall street Journal article to confirm this.

Actually, in defense of Obama, he did say he wanted to begin off shore drilling in his State of the Union speech.

I did see those poll numbers on Headline News, a CNN affiliate.

A bit if give and take now that he lost the majority and is sinking faster than the Titanic.

Next, we need to encourage American innovation. Last year, we made the largest investment in basic research funding in history, an investment -- an investment that could lead to the world's cheapest solar cells or treatment that kills cancer cells but leaves healthy ones untouched.

And no area is more ripe for such innovation than energy. You can see the results of last year's investments in clean energy in the North Carolina company that will create 1,200 jobs nationwide, helping to make advanced batteries, or in the California business that will put 1,000 people to work making solar panels.

But to create more of these clean-energy jobs, we need more production, more efficiency, more incentives, and that means building a new generation of safe, clean nuclear power plants in this country.

    (APPLAUSE)

It means making tough decisions about opening new offshore areas for oil and gas development.

    (APPLAUSE)

It means continued investment in advanced biofuels and clean-coal technologies.

    (APPLAUSE)

And, yes, it means passing a comprehensive energy and climate bill with incentives that will finally make clean energy the profitable kind of energy in America.
