Sounds like Missouri, and good luck getting anything other than comms and wildland equipment.

Right after the big rush of DHS money came through they had several grants for such things as communications, SCBA, rescue equipment, gas meters, haz-mat equipment, etc. If you were above a certain population, they had a calculation and you automatical recieved a certain allotment to spend toward that type of equipment. We managed to pull off 6 SCBA, a TIC, a four-gas, and several radios, maybe some other stuff I don't' remember off hand.

Unfortunately, a lot of it dried up and some of it's been diverted to other projects. You have to know where to find it and who to talk to now, and there's not near as much out there.

had the same kind of program here in SC. Called the V-Safe Grant Program. Legislators approved it however there has been no funding appropriated for the last two years I believe.

not sure where the $$ (2,000,000) came from, with illinois in the cellar as far as the economy goes...but it has been a good program ($500,000) last year. the small equipment grant has a $26,000 cap and definately is geared towards the volunteer departments with small budgets...we are a small combo dept and havent been awarded yet, hopefully with 4x more money than last year we will be successful....
