Hey Brothers! I know there have been many threads about traditional helmets vs modern helmets. Ialready know that a traditional leather belongs on top of this head! I actually own a New Yorker but am not permitted to wear it on duty.
My dept currently wears Morning Pride Lite Force helmets which I'm not too fond of. The guys at my firehouse (which is the busiest in the county...puffs chest!) have purchased Ben II's and have been wearing them for training and we love em. Even our Deputy Chief bought one.
Well the Chief got wind of the deal and banned the use of the Ben II helmets. To make a long story short, because I have to go on a detail, Are there any studies showing the benifits or positives of the Ben II vs Lite Force or Traditional vs Modern? Thanks !

I'm going to assume, just like any other thread like this, that you're answers are going to consist of, for the most part, That is what your chief wants you to wear so wear it. I'm not sure if there are any benefeits from one to the other, so I'm going to leave that up to someone who may know. Thankfully, that's not a problem on my department. We are issued Cairns N660C helmets, but if we wish to buy a traditional style, or a leather helmet, we're free to do so, it just all comes out of our pocket, and it needs to be colored for your rank.

To answer you question...NO, there are no studies on which one is better than the other one, at least to my knowledge.
They all have to meet NFPA standards but the manufacturer's all have their little gimmick to say their helmet is better than Brand X.
It all comes down to personal preference and in most cases, BUDGETS!!Jason Knecht
