hello,
i'm new here, and i looked around a bit but couldn't find answers to my questions. i'm taking the PAT in march as an emt.
can someone tell me specifically what the equipment is? the stairmaster, is that a stairmill or another kind?
also, i go to the gym a couple times a week, do time on the stairmaster, bike a little, run a bit. what can you suggest to help me a) pass the PAT and b)get ready for the academy?
finally, can someone tell me what the academy is like? what's the schedule there and what is the fitness regimen like?
thanks so much, i'm pretty nervous about all this, so any advice would be a huge help!

I'm not familiar with the EMS side of the process. It wouldn't hurt to call up and see if they can point you in the right direction: (718) 999-FDNY
You may also try posting your question in the EMS part of the forums here.
Sounds like you're on a good track so far. Try incorporating a little weight training too. A lot of lifting on the job.
Good luck.
