I have used NFPA 1500 8.8.2.1 for justifying a TIC. It deals with a RIC/RIT with equipment.
"A RIC shall be fully equipped with the appropriate protective clothing, protective equipment, SCBA, and any specialized rescue equipment that could be needed given the specifics of the operation under way".
TIC = specialized equipment.
There is another NFPA standard that may be applicable now.
NFPA 1407: Standard for Fire Service Rapid Intervention Crews
Haven't dug into it quite yet for specifics.

If you are applying for for TIC, just request one. Tried to get 2 last year, got shot down. Changed it to request 1 camera, used the same narrative, and we were awarded in the second round this year.

Never hurts to have a "plan B" in case my first need is fulfilled this year! Any winning TIC narratives appreciated. Thanks.

Would love a copy of the narrative as well! This is all very new for me. Our department is rural and would very much benefit from a TIC, but not sure AFG would view as a priority.

I have to disagree with you Presto, although I could have slipped through the cracks. I applied for two Thermals for a very small, very low call volume department using the codes Bugle pointed out and I got them both--in 2009. If you are supposed to have a thermal for your entry and one for your RIT, and you don't have one at all, go for two--wouldn't asking for only one not make you 100% compliant?

I could really use a copy of an award winning TIC narrative too. I requested a TIC in my 2009 grant request and I received a DJ. Thanks. Please send to oceancs@comcast.net

Not sure if any of the winning grants were for replacement TIC's. We have 2 original MSA 4000's that have seen thier use in life and are costing us more to keep up than they are worth. If any of the narratives can address that or anything close, I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
