Default squads and engines..north hudson fire dept. NJ

Just curious what are the differences between North Hudson's engines and squads? Both seem to be setup the same way..do the squad CREWS have specific trainging?

    I think....

Squads carry additional tools and can function like a truck company without the big ladder.

    I think.
I am now a past chief and the views, opinions, and comments are mine and mine alone. I do not speak for any department or in any official capacity. Although, they would be smart to listen to me.

My company runs a one squad company and three engine companies. The squad company is set up for almost everything. We have extrication tools, ladder equipment, FAST team set up, other specialized rescue equipment, as well as being an engine company, etc. Its a great asset to have if your able to set one up. Its also known as a Rescue/Pumper. Here check out FDNY squad 18 http://www.fdnysquad18.com/ The engines are set up for engine company operations but they do carry ladders as well like most companies but do not have any specialized equipment.
    Stay safe!
