I would like to know if anyone has or who know of firefighters that have had a ICD ( implantable cardioverter defibrillator) put in them and returned to full duty?
Thanks Capt. D. Hetzel![]()

I know of one guy who currently works part time for a department local to ours. he is retired as an engineer and now works part time for the fd. He passes the department phsyical every year and is a full line fireman. The department has a pretty good physical every year; meets all the osha and nfpa stuff. In fact many of the young guys cant keep up with him. Although he did qualify as an olympic alternate for swimming in his college years. that might have been made big difference being in such good shape in his younger years.
