    Default Norfolk Southern Grant

I figured I'd throw this out to see if anyone is interested... (not sure if anyone has posted this before)

Last year, I came across a grant program from Norfolk Southern Railroad. I just recieved word today that they are going to give us $1500 for equipment or operating expenses. There are some eligibility requirements for their program so you'll have to see if you meet their qualifications. You can look up the information on the Norfolk Southern website for yourself. Look for the NS Foundation, under the Community tab...

    Stay safe!!

It will probably help if they have a rail line running thru your district.

Im sure an NS line would help your odds, I have Canadian National here in Tennessee and I don't expect the my odds would be as good.

CN has an employee grant program. If you have RR employee in your community (RR does not have to necessarily run thru you FF) that you can get to volunteer at least 40hr to you then they can apply for a $500 grant to your FD.

What kind of equipment was you able to obtain through this grant? I have a NS and CSX rail line running through our town and it would be nice to land one of these grants.

I didn't have to specify what equipment we were trying to purchase. I just sent an email to the contact listed on the site and she told me how to proceed. She said that it was up to the regional director as to how much they would give and it was limited to $2000.00. I think I remember something about the money could be used for equipment or operating expenses. I considered getting all my guys some personal gear as an incentive for being involved and boosting morale.
