Anyone know about a successful grant written to aquire monitors through AFG? Any help would be appreciated. Our department has had no luck in 5 years. I have taken over the grant writing and would appreciate any guidance. Thanks all!

Can you forward that narrative to me as well. We currently do not have 12 lead capability and our monitors are over 10 years old. I have attempted to secure funding over the past few years but have been unsuccessful.
Thanks

I'm leaning toward a similar project. Anyone had any luck as a non-transport ALS FD?

12 Lead Monitors
Yes AFG has funded 12 Leads for Non Transporting groups, three Lifepak 12s, if I remember correctly. I am not sure if it was a FD or an EMS organization.
Excellent narrative reviewed by three firefighters, two without EMS training and one with. Narrative focused on community's Heart Saver work and time delay to get a transporting ambulance. Good references to AHA guidelines. Missing data on number of actual cardiac events that were delayed care, and any related long term deficits. I.e. death or neurological. Also missing departments work in placing AEDs. I.e. how many and where were they.
EMS trained reviewer scored low due to AFG being a funding source for “basic” needs and Lifepak not being a “basic” need. The other two reviewers scored high because it was an excellent narrative."There's no such thing as a bad day,
Some are just better than others." JFR 1914-1997

Unless things change this year, there was an emphasis for going to ALS last year.
We're in the middle of that conversion and have the state license to be ALS now, we're just short the cardiac monitor. The local ambulance is loaning us one, but with our relationship with a couple of board members, that could be pulled any day.

Kurt and others, please share. I'm looking at writing for a monitor, also. Have successful narratives for RIT equipment, TICs and exhaust removal system to share in return. Thanks!
