Fire Protection Inspector Career

Hey guys,
I have an Engineering degree and I am currently trying to get a Fire Protection Inspector (level 1) position with the FDNY. Some of my friends have told me not to take the job because there is no room for promotions. I am really hoping that they are wrong because i think i would greatly enjoy this job. Would anybody please mention how i would be able to move up in my career with the FDNY (if they take me) and where could i possibly see myself in a few years.

suggest you get a true fire protection engineer degree, and you can go alost anywhere
