Default AFG Workshop Power Point Slides

Did a quick search and didn't see this question posted, please forgive if it's already been posted. Have any of you that have been to the 2010 workshops obtained a copy of the power point presentation? Not sure if I'll be able to attend a workshop. Please PM me if you have a copy available.

    Thanks Much!

I am attending a workshop tonight. i'll ask if he'll transfer it to my flashdrive. i do have a powerpoint presentation presented by a Kansas professor who has been on the peer review from the beginning. Only problem is there is too much information to get through an email and I am not the best a putting the info on a disc.

I'll see what happens tonight and if I am able, will pass it on.

Try to save it as a pdf file... That will make it much easier to email due to a dramatic reduction in file size.

It can easily be converted once you have the power point file. If you are able to obtain it, I can help you with that.

I've seen a copy but no longer have it.

Making a PDF requires purchasing an application, haven't seen anyone put out a free one in a while that works worth a dang. The one that wasn't so obnoxious is called DoPDF, available for free at www.download.com. Acts as a printer driver so you "print" things into PDFs. Beats paying $400 for Acrobat. I broke down and had to buy it, but then bought Nitro PDF for $80 which also allows PDF editing and printing. Someone just had it on sale for $35, Office Depot or OfficeMax, saw it in the ads in yesterday's paper.

This is why it's useful to have a nerd around. Save money, time, and space.

The PowerPoint will be posted to the AFG website at some point.....it was supposed to have been by mid-March. But again Christmas might get here first.

    BC79er...

If you have office 2007 you can save a PP file to pdf format. I do it daily with my lecture notes for students (at least the maps).

Haven't switched, no plan to since backwards compatibility is not functioning. Too many of our clients are still on 2000 or 2003 and don't have the saavy to run with the converter packs.

Have had no problem. Indeed, it is compatible with older versions and even capable writing to all previous versions so that your clients can use it.

I thought 2003 couldn't get better, but it did with 2007.

Spent 13 years as an MS Solutions Developer. 2007 is far from backwards compatible despite the occasional semblance of working at random times. Did it between the 5 computers I had in the office when it came out, same document worked on 1, errored out on the others. Long list of reported issues from others and a recommendation from MS folks not to do it unless it's a widespread upgrade. Old company even had issues between offices and went back to 2003. Easier to stick with 2003 than support multiple document versions since anyone with 2007 can open up older stuff without issues. Had the same issue when they went to Office 2000, wasn't backwards compatible with 97 either. 2003 fixed it, so based on the track record it will be the 2010 version that finally fixes everything.

    I HATE 2007, wish I'd never switched!

Jam, I'm not gonna make it up there tonight, we have 3 different airpack demo's in our posession and the kids want to play with them without the reps around, so if you figure out how to send it put me on the list.

I can PM you and email address... Or... I could give you access to an FTP account and then fix the file for download.

Jam if you get that to work I would like to see it if that is possible. MS has just come out with office 2010. I had no trouble for 07 to open anything in 03 but I had problems with 03 not opening up anything built in office 2007. There is a free patch to fix that and it worked fine once I got it installed. Wasnít easy. You all are right about 07. It is a little much if all you do is just word documents but once I got use to 2007 I love it. But itís still on the pricey side. $349 for three user upgrade. Have no clue what 2010 cost. This stuff is changing so fast you canít keep up with it.

    Well,

I went to the workshop last night. When it ended I went to Rex with my thumbdrive and asked him to transfer his powerpoint to it. No. His reason is because it is last years presentation. Maybe I was a little too hard on him. Maybe.

I got the impression that out of the 18 that were there only a couple had ever been awarded. At least thats what I saw on the first half of the roster being passed around.

I converted the powerpoint display of the Professors peer review perspective and tried to send it to Limeforever. It just caused my Window mail to run and run and not send it.

I'll see what else I can do with it later today.
