    Default Hazmat Awareness

Hello! I recently joined a local FD as a volunteer EMT and was told I need to take an HazMat Awareness class. There is a class being held nearby but I don't think I'll be able to make it based on my job schedule. I was looking into taking a class online and was told by my chief that I need to find a class that's IFSAC accredited. The only courses I've found online are short 3-5 hour classes that have no mention of IFSAC, so I was wondering if anyone know of any courses that I could take.

    Thanks!

I'm in NC. However, I was told that any IFSAC accredited course would be okay as I can get reciprocity from the NC Fire and Rescue Commission. A free course would be preferred, but I don't mind paying for the class if I need to.

    Thanks!

have you called the school to see if they offer the class at other days and times???

also, ask the others in the dept. if they know other sources in the area for the class.

Any fire academies in the area, jr. colleges??

contact the commision they should know of classes:::

What part of nc are you from? I'm from the northern part of the state and we have a very good haz mat instructor, and he is doing a awarness and operations class next week and that will be all you need. Also look at Johnston Community College they have an online program where all you have to do is go there and take the test. If you let me know I'll send you the information.
