Yes... but some also wear civi suits or tuxes too.

It is just a matter of preference. I would listen to the little lady for guidance.

If you want to enjoy a long harmonious relatonship... there are three basic rules that you will need to learn and follow everyday.

    1) You are always wrong...

    2) She is always right...

    3) When in doubt, both Rule 1 and Rule 2 apply.

    Exclamation

Are you serious?? Don't you have a nice suit or can you not rent a tuxedo?

A lot of departments prohibits the wearing of the uniform outside the department and especially in a non department function!!

Rule No. 1 <-> the wife is always correct.

    End of rules!

Unless of course she is incorrect, in which case, she is correct.

I am sure that you would look handsome and strac in that box.
    At least y'all have uniforms.
When I left my volunteer department, they were fitting the officers with uniforms and starting to promulgate the cost of fitting all members as well.I disremember if members were to pay part or all of the cost or if the department through the Board of Trustees was buying them.
The usual "uniform" for training(and calls if you "just happened" to have one in the daily rotation)was blue jeans and a t shirt with the department's name on it,or in one station's case, the Engine Company shirt for the rig assigned there.

Check with the future Mrs. and your dept first... in that order.

I understand the draw, but there's no use considering it if it's against dept SOPs.

Just like at a Marine Corps wedding where one of the members of the saber arch detail swats the bride in the sternsheets with his Marmaluke as the newly bethrothed couple passes, that is yet another way to guarantee a funeral on the same day.
