    Default Reading Smoke

We had an interesting training session today. The issue of reading smoke was brought up as part of our training(myself and my backup guy forgot the TIC) and our training officer was asking what can we do to know fire conditions with out the TIC. Dose any one know of any were online to learn more about reading smoke or could someone give me a quick run down on it. Thanks.

    Cool Reading Smoke.....

Chief Dodson of Response Solutions teaches an excellent "Reading the Smoke" Class. The 1st time I saw it was on a Webcast Live here. I also have attended his Class live, it's awesome.....

Search this site and his webcast should come-up.

I also have seen others try and duplicate his teaching, myself included and it's still not the same as when Chief Dodson teaches it.

    Hope this helps.....

You can also purchase the 2 videos: The Art of Reading Smoke and the Practice Sessions. Both excellent, both by Dodson, about $150 for both. Search Amazon.

This stuff should be seen by everyone including a recruit firefighter.
