Wow that thing is ugly. I dont know who IH has working on the look of thier new trucks but I do believe they need to go back to the drawing board.

    it serves several purposes.
    1. It gives them somewhere to put there 6.4 litre engine now that ford has developed their own diesel and won't be buying the 6.4's.
    2. it provides a medium duty chassis to fill the niche of the now deceased GM 4500-5500 chassis
    3. It gives Navistar a full range from medium duty all the way up to class 8 trucks.

A very smart move for them to take

    I think it looks good.

I agree it is a smart move for IH to fill the void left by the departure of the 4500 and 5500 chasis.

    I think it looks fine.

Hopefully in about 3 yrs, we can get a half dozen of these to replace a few of our battered and aged Med Units. The last 6 ones we got from IH were bodied by Wheeled Coach, and have been nice rigs to have. We just need to get rid of the F*** F450's that we still use.

I'm really going to be interested to see how the 6.4L diesel is going to handle without Ford's meddling. I'd imagine it's going to be more reliable from the OEM in their own chassis.

the 6.4 has been pretty much problem free in our F550. Had the injector recall when new, but other than normal service works fine. The 6.0 litre was the problem child that navistar produced.

That's good to hear. Other than a radiator hose wearing through on our F-450 6.0L when it was new, we've had no problems with it. But we got one of the final year 6.0's that were produced, so I would hope that the problems were worked out by then.
