This year will be like last year, and most past years, about a dozen awards take half the money out since national orgs have big expensive projects for the whole country. Hard to compete with those cost-benefit calculations.

Hard to tell, so little money out so far, and we only have one 1199A that didn't get announced. 5 others have no 1199A and no DJ this morning.

Seems like the FP&S funding is predominately going to big research organizations and universities. We've tried several times and gotten the DJ. Things we've applied for : fire extinguisher training system &extinguishers twice, Carbon monoxide detectors, address signs for rural residences.

islandfire03, I received an award for fire address signs this year, (2009 AFG). Just awarded last Friday. Would be willing to share my narrative if it would help. It took two years to get it awarded, DJ'd 2008 and tweaked it a bit for 2009. Let me know.

Thanks Wischeif: We have tried it under FP&S and didn't fly but I'd like to see what you did different. I'll send you a PM with my e-mail address.

The 2009 FP&S guidance seemed so skewed toward research organizations and universities that we didn't even apply last year.
The news at this year's AFG workshop (on April 1, no less -- talk about unintentional humor!) seemed more encouraging. It sounded like there was going to be a shift back toward training and, y'know, prevention and safety. I'm cautiously optimistic.
Of course, guidance is months away, so who knows what'll actually happen?
