We are attempting to replace our 1966 model 2.5 ton brush truck. I have seen that the max funding for a brush truck under AFG is 135K. I have also seen that a Type 3 wildland engine is very similar but has a max of 272K. 135K is not enough for the truck we need. We need 200K+ to get what we need. What is the difference in applying for a brush truck vs. applying for a type 3 wildland engine? Is it purely semantics or are there benefits to doing it one way vs. the other?

Two completely different vehicles in two different priority categories
AFG doesn't differentiate between types of engines.
They have pumper/engine category,
tanker/tender category,
brush/quick attack category,
aerial less than 76'
greater than 76 '
rescues
obviously asking for a type III wildland engine will register as a forestry service image to the reviewers, if you get to them with your scoring. The cost benefit ratio and # of calls the truck is needed for annually will be a determining factor in your computer score. The age of other engines in your fleet will also be considered in the score.
