Appliance Question

I know it's mounted on the truck, but if it wasn't per say, this would be considered a water thief, correct? I am referred to the red appliance on the bottom left.

Yes you could call that three valve a water thief.


Or you could call it a three wye as well.

I was taught a Wye was also one in, two equal out, where as a Water Thief has one in, same size out, plus two smaller.

Actual a WYE is an appliance that has one female intake with two or three male outlets.

A SIAMEASE is an appliance which has two or more Male intakes with one Female discharge.

A lot of departments use a Siamese on the large steamer suction to get more water to the pump.

I think it would be some type of Wye, actually. I think a water thief has to have a valve on it. But, I am not sure.

Exactly what you see is what it is. aka WYE.

It has one 2-1/2 female inlet and two or more male outlets, be it 1 2-1/2 and 2 1/1/2 or any other configuration, it is still considered a WYE.


A Three Way Wye to be more précised.
