I noticed IFSI has a large number of courses in East Peoria the weekend of May 1st. Is some kind of Fire College/School? I wasn't able to locate anything specific about it online.

that is the paul lukavitch tazewell county fire school. i believe its like $25 per head for any of the classes. I went through the entry level stuff last year and it was pretty good, but i've heard the extrication classes are a little overcrowded tho. overall a nice experience i had last year

If you are taking the rope classes you will have a good time. The guys from Morton are good and are fun to work with.

Well the guys that I was supposed to be going with backed out on the Rope Rescue class, so I think I'm going to be switching over to the Live Fire drills.

What'd you guys think of the classes you took? I went through the Live Fire drill on Saturday and Pre-Planning/Building Construction Sunday. Overall I thought it was pretty good, especially for $25 total for both days.
Live Fire Drills - I thought there was some points in the Drills that just seemed like "filler time" like the handline ops and the roof ladder parts, but overall thought it was pretty good. Friggin' loved the Confined Space maze, wish that my department had one because I'd do that every day. I liked how they included radio traffic for the Coordinated Attack, helped reinforce situational awareness by listening to other company traffic to command. They definently got that place hot, helmet singed in a few places and I'm pretty sure it melted some spots on my facepiece.
Pre-Planning/Building Construction - The instructor seemed very knowledgeable, but seemed like he jumped around a bit. I looked into it afterwards, and I'm pretty sure that they swapped out instructors at the last minute, so I could see why he'd be hit-and-miss. It turned into more of a Scene Size-Up class, which I wasn't upset about, because I've wanted to get into another one for awhile now. Just noticed that it went from Pre-Planning to Size-Up.
It looked like they had a lot of scheduling conflicts with the outside companies (Catepillar, Lumber/Construction Yards), but even so, was still a pretty solid weekend, came out more knowledgeable and more aware of my out-of-shapeness!

I only went Saturday, but the class I took (Ethanol & Foam) was excellent. Instructor was very knowledgeable and I learned a great deal. Not many people in the class, which was too bad, but I got a lot out of it.
