    Got mine too!

Dear Station Construction Grant (SCG) Applicant:

Thank you for applying for a Fiscal Year (FY) 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA, P.L.
    111-5) Station Construction Grant (SCG).

The ARRA provided $210 million for the FY 2009 ARRA SCG Program. The Federal Emergency Management
Agency (FEMA) received more than 6,000 applications requesting approximately $10 billion in Federal
funding. Due to the competitiveness of the application proces! s and the limited amount of available
funding, less than two percent of those that applied will be awarded. Unfortunately, FEMA was not
able to offer funds to many worthy applicants. Many Applicants were not considered because the
application did not match up well in relation to the funding priorities and rating criteria for the
    FY 2009 ARRA SCG Program.

Funding priorities and rating criteria for the evaluation of FY 2009 ARRA SCG Program applications
were established based on recommendations from a panel comprised of representatives from nine major
fire service organizations. These priorities were included in the FY 2009 ARRA SCG Program Guidance
and were reflected in the FY 2009 ARRA SCG application in the form of questions regarding the applicant's
organization and community, as well as the proposed project. !
The answers to these questions were the !
primary basis for determining whether an application warranted further evaluation in the peer review
stage of the competition. To reach the second level of evaluation (the peer review), priority was given
    to the following:

    1. Applicants whose proposed projects were consistent with the announced funding priorities
    2. Communities that have been subject to significant increases in unemployment rates
    3. Applicants whose projects could start soon after the award was made
4 .Applicants whose projects would positively affect firefighter and public safety in
    the near term

If you would like a more detailed account of how your application was rated, please register your request
at www.firegrantsupport.com/turndowns within 30 days of this notice. FEMA will respond to these requests !
in the order in which they are received

I appreciate your interest in the ARRA SCG Program and look forward to working with you on future homeland
    security issues.

    Sincerely,

Also doesn't mention if someone went to Peer Review or not. Only 700 made it, but still would be nice to see a distinguishing statement in the DJ.

Looks like they only went to personal emails so far, ones I got copied on aren't in the app Mail Center.

Did I miss it or what. It does not come right out and say you were rejected. Just a bunch of generalities. Maybe we still have a chance. Ha Ha ( like Dumb and Dumber, " 1 in a million, so you mean I have a chance ")

That might be the CDJ vs PDJ split too. After all, a few people already got caught not owning land they said they owned prior to the app being submitted so got some pulled awards....money going back into the pot once the environmental assessments are handled to make more awards.

Got ours too. Personal e-mail, not on the app.

Too bad, but stiff competition is stiff competition.

All the rejections probably should read something like this:

"Dude, there just ain't enough money."

They probably found out it didn't work after a few phone calls about it.

Well, still no DJ and still no communications since the last one a month or so ago. But we have had some communications at least, so I'm still hopeful

My dream — and I hope you don't find this too crazy — is that I would like the people of this community to feel that if, God forbid, there were a fire, calling the fire department would actually be a wise thing to do. You can't have people, if their houses are burning down, saying, 'Whatever you do, don't call the fire department!' That would be bad."

No DJ notice for us although I haven't received the first phone call, reduction, NOTHING since having written it back in the stone age...have they simply not sent them all out? I refuse to dig this grant up from my "grant cemetary." I had decided long ago it was dead...but can't help but wonder what the heck's up?

Every three months or so, I have this conversation with the City's ARRA administrator:

ARRAadmin: Have you heard anything on the Station grant?
    me: No.
ARRAadmin: So, we're still in the running!
    me: No.
ARRAadmin: Have we gotten a letter declining the grant?
    me: No.
ARRAadmin: We have a chance, right?
    me: No.
ARRAadmin: Seriously, you don't think we'll get it?
    me: No.
ARRAadmin: I'll call you in a few weeks.
    me: ....

Add my name to the pot. Got my DJ today. Like all of you I didn’t understand the letter. With a whole page of writing it left out one sentence. “You did not get the grant” I hate it when somebody beats around the bush and don’t say what they mean. Just come out and say it.
I was told that the City of Mobile is going ahead and building there new station from the SCG funds but doesn’t have the firefighters to man it. So maybe they will get a safer grant and be fixed. I swear some of the cities are laying off their Firefighters just to get a heads up on the safer grant.
Oh well that is the way it goes, first your money and then your clothes.

Dmleblanc; I remember you getting something a few weeks ago. Was it the 1199? If you didn’t get your DJ today than it looks like you are still in the running. They still have some money in that fund. Surly all the money is left is not for administrative fees. Good luck to you.
