    Default Battalion Chief/Exempt Employee Overtime

Does anyone know which departments allow Battalion Chiefs to work extra shifts?

Here battalion chiefs & above don't get OT, they get comp time. I'm just a peon, so I don't know all the rules and such, but I think it's 1-for-1 and a limit of so-many hours that you can "bank". So a chief works a night shift not on his platoon, he can get a night shift off without taking vacation/sick/etc. Or he can work a bunch of shifts and bank the time, then get say a month vacation for himself. Or if close to retirement, can bank the extra shifts, and "cash out" his banked time, kinda like we get to do with our unused sick & vacation times.
Opinions expressed are mine alone, and do not necessarily reflect those of the Philadelphia Fire Department and/or IAFF Local 22.
