I'm getting my own Apartment and I'm finally about to get my EMT-B/FIRE I certs after getting out of the military. Now the one thing I get to have fun with is Setting up a radio room well desk in this case in my apartment. Just don't know how to do. I also want to put a vehicle radio in my truck but that can't be to hard to hook up.
Now I've seen people run their radios off a computer just for that but I have not the funding for a Super center of radio's. I just want something nice and clean to listen to. Any help would be AWESOME!!!!.![]()

You just need to buy a scanner and plug it into the wall for power.
Even the burger-flippers at McDonald's probably have some McWackers.

Not knowing what state you reside or will reside in, but some state do not allow scanner in automobiles. You need to check before you but one and have it hooked up.
You can but a scanner for home and listen to it 24/7 if that is your desire.
I hear the radio traffic enough while I am on duty so I don't have a scanner at home!!
Here is a link for you showing everything that you would ever want.

First can you provide us with some info on where you are at? The reason being not everyone has adopted a specific radio systems, they range from analog, digital, trunked, P25 and there are a few other types that are just as popular.
For example if where you live is a digital system and you purchased a analog scanner you wouldn't hear anything except maybe some static. It just all depends where you are at, if you just want to listen scanners are the way to go.

These both are really good sites, scanner world being a great place to buy.Last edited by K4taw; 04-28-2010 at 12:36 PM.
