    Default station generator

we are building a new firehouse that will serve as the local disaster center in an event of a minor/major disaster.
we are looking to write afg for a backup generator. Anyone got any tips on how to write such a grant? and other items we can throw in the grant.
A successfull grant would be much appreciated
    thanks

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but here's the statement from the 2009 PG

"Grant funds are to be used only to retrofit existing structures that do not have the eligible safety features or to upgrade facilities whose features are outdated. Grant funds under this funding opportunity may not be used for new construction. When requesting funds for modifications to facilities, older structures will receive the highest consideration for funding."

    Sorry

Also noted in the PG is that generators are a low priority item and will score low on the totem pole.

As have posted several times. DOD surplus has scads of good diesel gensets from 5kw to 750kw. No cost to FD.

Many are low hour units being replaced with units with lower emissions.

Also available are gas gensets 10kw and under.

    See your state forester.
