Can't wait for the FF/EMT to open up in January. I tried two years ago but had to drop out because of a medical issue but that has been resolved since then so im going to be trying again and cant wait!!!

Do they run their own ambulances? Is this for an ALS Engine/Truck spot?

Call recruitment and ask. They're the ones that are handling such matters.

The Fairfax County FRD has exclusive 911 prehospital txp within the county, mutual aid notwithstanding. All personnel are dual role, trained to either EMT-B, EMT-I or EMT-P. All of our engines are ALS. We're planning to eventually put ALS equipment on trucks and rescues in the near future, to give medics more versatility within the dept. Our ambulances are either FF/EMT-FF/EMT, FF/medic-FF/EMT, or Medic LT-FF/medic. We also have a small volunteer contingent that does both fire and EMS as well.

We don't hire for specific positions. Everyone comes in through the academy and comes out as a FF or FF/medic. You're assigned to a house. The OIC decides where you ride, and when to train for the truck, to drive, etc.
