I was wondering if these items are considered a shopping list for the AFG grant. (1)Thermal Imaging Camera, (12) SCBA's, (12) spare bottles, (1) set extrication equipment. We are thinking about applying for these items. Any ideas?

"One of these things is not like the other, one of these things does not belong..."
Spare bottles aren't separate from SCBA. TICs get used while wearing SCBA. What's left? Hmmmm

That is what I was thinking. Some of the guys on the department said to apply for all of these items. You have answered my question, Thanks.

Keep in mind your current age of your SCBA's since I have not heard of anyone getting 1997 or newer replaced with the AFG since parts are readily available.
One added thing if your current SCBA cylinders are T-6051 aluminum (prior to 1996) then they are susceptible to SLC (SUSTAINED-LOAD CRACKING ) and only have a 40 year life span with proper maintenance.Last edited by mtndew21; 05-11-2010 at 11:19 AM.

Happened plenty of times, just for those made in 1997 or 1998 and with high enough call volumes to show that the packs were beat down after 11-12 years.

Odds are that grant to replace antique SCBA is more likely to be make it thru the replacement of HRT.
If you do the SCBA by all means include the TIC. And don't forget to add a RIT bag.
