    Default 1997 compliant Survivair

What are the major factors of a 1997 compliant SCBA. I am trying to determine if my neighboring departments Survivair are pre-1997. They bought them in 1998, but when I check the Sperian website, they don't look at all like the 1997 compliant Panther model that they show. These packs need to go, they leak, have no RIT connections, and according to the chief, he can't find service.

Mike, when I went through our assortment of SCBAs they all had the metal tags on them with all the info. If not time to ditch them anyway.

Sperian has completely rebuilt their SCBA's. What you have is the panther series. They don't mfg that anymore. What they have now is the warrior series. You should be able to call the mfg or your local Sperian rep and give him the serial number off of one of the packs, then they should be able to tell you the mfg date.

Since I have to select 1997 compliance on the dropdown menu for the current equipment, will this result in a computer dj?

I would think so, but others may have a more informed idea. I would go through the packs, remove any that are unsafe and then ask for the number to fill your seats, minus any good ones. Not the best scenario, combining new and old but if it gets you into the narrative you can then explain about the old '97'. Just one idea. Be safe Mike.

Thanks guys. My neighbors really need this grant. I went over tonight to over things and 2 units leak like a faucet. They have 23 members on their roster and only 10 packs.

Jim I'm confused ( as usual). Are the 97s being replaced for 2010? I thought they were not in 2009 but that may have changed for this year's grant.

97 compliant packs were replaced in years past with significant call volume and justification.
