    Cool New Apparatus

Hello. Recently here in Culpeper, VA, CCVFD Company 1 recieved their new Rescue Apparatus (Squad 1). She is a 6 Seated, 2009 Spartan Gladiator with a Cummins that pushes out 430 HP along with an Allison Transmission, 750 Gal. Tank with a Waterous Pump rated at 1750 GPM, and one helluva Jake Brake lol. Here are some pictures of this new beauty.

Yep. They have already gotten some use out of this truck and done more training with it. We all love it. I'm not with their dept. though. I am with a dept. about 3 miles away. My friend is with this dept. and he said that everyone loves this new truck. He also stated that they are ordering another truck sometime next year.

I love Spartan Chassis and Cabs, but I will take a Cummins over anything. I love the Spartan Gladiator Classic. I am not too big on the new Spartan Gladiator Evolution. Don get me wrong, they are great looking trucks, but they didnt manage, in my opinion, to keep the "Classic Fire Truck" look. You know what I mean? The Spartan Metro Star Cabs aren't half bad either. However, I would take a HME 1871 series cab over a Metro Star cab.

My newest rigs (12) over the last few years (4 last month) have all been Spartan Gladiators with the Cummins ISM engine.

We've got 9 of the Crimsons, and 3 of the Toynes, for body builders. As for problems, they have all been with the body builder, and not the cab/chassis builder. As for any problems with any of them, all have been taken care of quickly.

I won't go as far as shoving them down your throat, but I do recommend them, if they will work for you.

The pump, speedlays, and hosebeds are all behind the roll-up doors closest to the cab. I do not have authority to open anything on this apparatus as I am not a member with this Dept. Sorry, bud.

Won't have another? Another WHAT? What's your spec? What do YOU prefer? I can see by your moniker you like Brand X pickups. What DON'T you like? Specs? What do you do with it? Who built it? Need more info than "Won't have another". T.C.

Some people think if it doesn't have a certain shingle on it,it won't fight fire. I've worked off enough stuff to know otherwise. How's things on the Island? T.C.
