"A Shawnee firefighter died Saturday night during a fire in a house Saturday night at 13408 W. 75th Court, fire officials said.
A six-year Shawnee Fire Department veteran was found unresponsive at the rear of the burning residence after he and others had been searching for occupants, fire officials said. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The 33-year-old firefighter, whose name was not released, is survived by a wife and two children.
It took several fire trucks to fight and extinguish the blaze. Another firefighter also was taken to a hospital where he was treated and released
The fire department has scheduled a news conference this afternoon for more information
