In our industry we have Dry chemical powder extinguishers which have potasium bicarbonate as the powder, any reason why this chemical is used as the extinguishing agent?
Is this chemical used neat or is it treated?
Can dry chemical powder (DCP) be used on class B fires( liquid hydrocarbons)?

It is one of the list approved agents for use in BC Dry Chemical Extinguishers. Alone with sodium bicarbonate, ammonium phosphate, and potassium chloride.
No. They it is blended with anti-caking agents, to prevent them from becoming solid.
Yes, they are used on class B fires. Do not confuse Dry Chemical with Dry Power extinguishing agents. Dry Powers are found in Class D extinguishers, which are used on metal fires.
