Default Just received Polaris award notification from USST.

UPS man rolls up as I'm finishing up our AFG apps, hands me an overnight delivery envelope from USST, drives away as I begin my happy dance.

I think a major reason we got an award was that we added a support letter from our congressman.

Wow, UPS? Guess it will make the suspense of opening the letter in the regular USPS mail this year a little less exciting.

Congrats on your award! Always a tough program.

Blake what is a Polaris award from USST? Or is one of those” if I tell you I would have to kill you” kind of things. Man !!! Now that I got the grants out I don’t know what to do with myself. Maybe I can get to bed before midnight tonight. That aerial app was a no fun. They sure do know how to make it hard on us small departments. Good luck with yours.

Yep, UPS delivery does add to the suspense, but finally glad to have cracked this one, now to finish the energy conservation grants for our stations, and finish the 10 VFA grants I have been conned into.

We got a gator through them a few years ago. We have both the medical bed and a fire set up for it for brush fires. Nice little piece of equipment to have.

No, I am not a water rescue technician, but I stayed in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

That's what we were planning to do -- in the proposal I wrote that we'd add a little tank and pumping unit to it, and use it for limited-access rescue and brush fire work. About half our district is National Forest.

Kurt Thanks for the help that you have provided to us in the past. So far I am in the $750,000 club for grants since taking your class 3 or 4 years ago. Over $500,000 of that is through AFG.

In my award letter it said a rep would be in contact with me. Does anyone have any idea on how long that may take?

The company has to notify your dealer and then the dealer, if he has one in stock, will set up a time to deliver it. If not they have to order one in and then set it up beofre delivery. I would say you could be looking at anywhere form 2-6 weeks.

Last year, we recieved a call from Gifts in Kind. they said they would be in our area on such and such date. Please have someone there to meet the truck driver. The truck driver was deliverying several that week in the southeast. I think his truck would hold 4-5.
I was not there when it was delivered, but our full time guy was and several of our volunteers. The truck driver had all the paperwork and he also showed us how to operate it.

Congratulations on the award. We are very thankful for ours. It has been on several calls since August 09.
