I'm an explorer and some one told me that I could get my firefighter 1 at age 16. I was wondering if that is true?

What state? You are more than likely able to take the class, but not take the test.

Yes, what state? I know every now and then ours runs a FF1 for juniors that you can take, then challenge ff1 when you turn 18...

The best thing to do is call your state fire service training office. If you are in OK I believe it will be something to do with OSU. I'm 90% sure that you could take the class and challenge the test when you get close to your 18th b-day, which is what I'm in the process of doing. I took the class last winter and turn 18 in a few months.

Im a junior firefighter in Colorado, i took the FF1 with all the adults.. they dont really treat us that different except that we cant do interior operations... I had to take a state practical and test.. which i passed.. so i guess it depends where you are and what your department lets you do.
