My thought and prayers to you and your family. We lost Jack 4 1/2 years ago, and I still miss the old boy too.

Firecat, As somebody who has had numerous fuzzy canines in his life, I know how you feel. My screen name is in memory of my most recent fuzzy friend who I lost a few years ago. When my pager went off, he was bound and determined to go with me, and I had no choice but to take a 125 lbs German Shepherd on a call.

@ firecat1... I read this as soon as you posted it, and I wanted to give my condolences, but couldn't. I had to put down my 13 year old German Shepherd named Satan, only a couple months ago. He was completely black, and was very protective of the grandkids.

My heart felt condolences to you and your family.

Thank you everyone. Your thoughts and comments are much appreciated.

Nikita came to my family in June, 2002 and was presented to me as a Father's Day present. He has been my constant companion since then, and he and I have seen some pretty heavy turmoil in our lives together. First the loss of family in the way of marital break up, and then the long drive to Washington, during which a few of the folks here, like Steamer, IACOJ REV, Weruj1 and several other Cast of Characters got to meet him first hand. Memories of meeting y'all in Toledo, during a thunder storm in which Nik decided to "remodel" the interior of the truck during the noon hour, are promintent during that trip.

He was with me during at least two major vehicular breakdowns - transmission failure (Maryland) on one, and an electrical disablement on the other (returning from a family visit to Clarksville, TN). He and I have seen a lot of pretty country over the past 8 years and met a lot of good people along the way.

You will be greatly missed, you Silly Dog.
