It has been alleged that the Ghana government wanted 125' sticks. Also, let's not forget who built Pierce's sticks before Pierce built Pierce's sticks.

I know for a fact why Pierce had to go to Smeal for the ladders. Ghana wanted 125' ladders as their spec. Pierce doesn't make one.

As for the small guy reference (Smeal), look at it this way. They build excellent ladders, but don't make the rigs from the ground up, as Pierce does. This is good for Smeal.

They don't NEED to. They're using a GOOD foundation(for the most part). T.C.

Not sure if anyone has ever seen one...they are MASSIVE. We looked at one when we were in the R&D phase of replacing our 135' E-One. If I remember correctly it was about 50' long, over 12' tall, had a 4 section ladder and a serious GVW. The 2 big things that kept us from looking at them further were length (a bit too long for a straight truck our liking) and too tall, It wouldn't fit through the door. KME Builds a 121' and a little birdie told me that E-One is re-enginering the 135'er and it "should" be on the market by the end of the year.
But, with as much as a "prima donna" Pierce appears to think they are (at lease thats how they've always came accross to me), I'm kinda surprised that Pierce would build a new rig and put someone elses new ladder on it.

Vancouver Fire took delivery of two I believe, Smeal 125' ladders a couple of years ago.
