I'm currently enrolled and taking my FF1 classes at HCC, then I'll take my FF2 and do my EMT-B and be certified, I've heard great things about HCC's Fire Academy, but I don't want to wait two months or possibly even more before I can start my EMT classes at HCC, is anyone here from Houston that could recommend somewhere else where I can get my EMT-B done? I'll be finishing FF1 and FF2 at the end of October so I'd like to start right at the beginning of November.
Also, has anyone been to HCC's Fire Academy, I'm just looking for some alumni to ask questions and network with. Thanks.

Hey Man,
I'll be going thru HCC's medic program starting this fall. Maybe I'll see you there, somewhere. Either way, I just wanted to say best of wishes and welcome to the "experience" of being a firefighter here in the heat of H-town.
Let me know if I can be of any help. I don't know it all, but I've learned a few things. Great hearing from you.
Take care,
Pete

Pete,
Have you already taken your FF cert at HCC? It's gonna be hotter than Hades going through our burns, should be fun though. My main goal is just not to suffer heat stroke or heat exhaustion...well that and complete the program!
I'll see you around buddy.

Hey Ron,
No, I didn't go thru their fire academy, but I've heard some good things about it. I know what you mean about it being HOT!!! But, hey, that's why we're firefighters, right?
Drink lots of water all day long. That's helped me adjust anyways.
Yeah, I'll keep my eyes open for ya. My class won't be starting until November, but I'm looking forward to it.
Take care man,
Pete

I was thinking about doing the HCC program also, but I am looking at the online program. The website says Basic Firefighter Certification is what is required for preparation to become a firefighter. Is this right and how much does it cost. I will also be taking the EMT-B. Not sure which one I will take first.
