Rollover in Provo Canyon kills Herriman woman

..A Herriman woman was killed in a rollover accident in Provo Canyon late Thursday night.

Just before midnight, Karilyn Oborn, 40, was driving a black Mazda west on U.S. Highway 189 near Bridal Veil Falls. The car drifted off to the left side of the road, and the driver overcorrected to the right side. The car struck a concrete barrier and rolled several times, coming to rest upside down.

Both occupants were wearing seatbelts. Witnesses removed Oborn from the vehicle after the crash, and the female passenger, 29, was able to get out on her own. Oborn died at the scene of injuries sustained in the crash. The passenger was transported to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo with serious injuries, including broken bones and lacerations. She is expected to survive.

Consumption of alcohol is being investigated as a cause of the crash.
