Roughly 1600 candidates attended the test. 500 of the applicants had stated they were directly recruited by our personnel. I will be sending you all the data on the remaining 1100 candidates in the next email.
Im pretty sure, and feel free to correct me if im wrong but, when i got done testing before they had us do into the class rooms and sign those last fourms, myself and about 10 othere people were put up against the wall and a firefighter went down one by one and asked who they had heard that the county was hiring for the position of Firefighter. Only one person in my group said she had heard about the test from another montgomery county firefighter.
I guess i misunderstood what the email was saying, I remember them asking my group that too. I didnt pick up on what the email was saying about where everyone had heard about the exam, i.e a firefighter, or website
I remember a guy asking us before the test started. What is the difference on how you found out?
anybody receive test scores yet? i took the test for prince georges after montgomery and i already have my results for PGFD...
Not a thing... Does it usually take this long?
Capt. Foster said another week!!!
I got my E-mail today, did you?
Recruit class A (no previous training) - you are done because of lack of funds.
Recruit class B (required experience) - still in the process.
I guess its good we get cut now rather than going all the way through the process and getting cut at the end due to lack of funds.
go figure! all this time waiting and boom shut down, oh well good luck to everyone moving on and STEELS right better now then later. keep applying and testing!
I know its pointless now but how did everyone do on their written? I got my results today and overall I got 88.23%
I figure they still had to let us know the results and the part about being on the list is just some generic response
I got an 83 but on the news today they stated that there would be major cutbacks and layoffs to fire and rescue personnel.
Received my score in the mail yesterday, 90.66%. Well so much for that second attempt to go through the process with it being canceled. Good luck to everyone still in the process and those that are testing elsewhere.
I would like to take this opportunity to provide you with an update on the status of the hiring process for the Firefighter/Rescuer Recruit position(s).
In mid-September notification was sent indicating the county was unsuccessful in obtaining the Federal Grant (Safer Grant) which would have allowed us to hold a full length recruit class. At that time we anticipated moving forward with the recruit class for applicants who met the specific level of training at the time of application. Unfortunately, due to ongoing budget issues we are unable to move forward with this class as well. As a result the eligible list for both Recruit classes (advertised as “A” & “B”) will expire in August 2011.
Although the eligible list for both recruit classes will expire in August, Fire/Rescue Service does anticipate having funding for another class (for applicants with specific level of training) in late 2011 or early 2012. They also hope to receive Federal Grant money to allow for a full length recruit class as well. As a result, I anticipate advertising for this recruitment sometime in late spring/early summer. Please check our website on a regular basis for the announcement(s). There will be no formal announcement made when the ad(s) is posted on our website.
Both the Office of Human Resources and Fire/Rescue Service recognize that each of you has spent a considerable amount of time and effort in applying for, preparing and taking the entrance exam and regret that we are unable to move forward with any Recruit Class from the current eligible list. We do however; hope you will apply for our next recruit class when advertised.
