Hey everyone I just wanted to say Hi my names Craig and new to this forum. I am one of the 70 who are currently waiting to see whether or not I have an academy day. I was wondering how many on the list are paramedics? Also does anyone know when they would find out if they have an academy date?

Half are medics, and we are just finishing up with suitability exams, physicals, and drug tests/background checks for our "conditional job offers". Good luck everyone!

It's just killing me 6 yrs of professional experience and I couldn't crack top 30 on medics!!! Oh well, good luck to all who made it. Hurry up and finish so they can start another class of medics.

what's up everyone I finally heard back from CCFD. I just got a call back from human resources letting me know I'm scheduled for a chief's interview. Can anyone help? What kinda questions will he ask? What should I study?

I just had my interview on June 8th and I’ll find out if I’m going through the first Academy July 11th or the second one .They haven’t picked a date for the second Academy so I’m keeping my fingers crossed for the first one. I think it went well and I felt like I was connecting with the Chief. I just hope I’m what he is looking for right now. Chief Washington was such a nice down to earth guy and made me feel so relaxed while talking with him But, I made sure to stay on my toes. I also gave him a copy of my resume and some letters of recommendation. I didnt see anyone else with any of that stuff in the waiting area.Thanks for the support guys.

Chief Washington said he had to have a Chief's interview because he had to many qualified guys and he wanted to meet everyone and see if that would help him make his picks.

I recieved an email today from CCFD, asking for an update on certifications. Has anyone else recieved this letter? Just curious to hear if anyone knows any updates regarding a second academy scheduled? Do they want medics or emts? Thanks for your info.

Hello everyone, I am not on CCFD's list, but when I was in Las Vegas at the beginning of this year, I had the opportunity to talk with some of the firefighters from station 11. They told me that it is a policy to have 50% Medics and 50% EMTs in one academy and if your an EMT-B going into the academy, than they will put you through an EMT-I class. On a side note, has anyone heard what is going on with LVF&R? I am in group 1 on their firefighter trainee list. Thanks

I too, received the email,....promptly filled it out and put it in the mail.

As with 'nnfra200302', I am in (or was in) group 1 for LVF&R....posted the same inquiry on the LVF&R thread a few weeks ago. Nothing as of yet. The shining light I remember was someone posting that LVF&R had requested an extension on the 24-month policy for the hiring list. If that extension did indeed occur, that would cause the list [some of us are on] to expire June 10, 2012 instead of a month ago.

A close friend who is a 36-year veteran FF at another major city tells me that I (as well as others in group 1) am **supposed** to be given an opportunity to complete the hiring process (CPAT, interview, etc.) before LVF&R opens hiring up publicly,...or offers another written exam. Has anyone heard of the hiring process continuing in that manner after a long hiatus of new hires?
