    Default "Invitation to Bid" locations

Is there a "go to" place to publish notices of invitation to bid for apparatus? we are required to post under state law, and were hoping to put it in a place that actually reached builders, as opposed to the polyester and gray hair of our state... I was thinking Daily Dispatch.

That would be the way to go if you want to hours of your time with every 3rd rate backyard builder in the US. And then either end up; with a POS from one of these builders; or spend the rest of you life working to justify, legally, why you rejected their bid.

Or send your specs/RFP to qualified QUALITY builders that you actually want to see a bid from. Then publish your legal notice on page 7 of the local Weekly Bugle.

    Talking

We select at least 6 high Quality builders and send an RFP package to them. We know they have the ability to produce the product we are seeking. We also post a legal notice in the local daily newspaper to remain above reproach.
We also have a clause that states : " The town of XXXXXXX is not required to accept any bids that do not meet our specifications and may reject any/all bids submitted without recourse of the vendors submitting proposals.
Getting us off the hook of a "low bidder "not being chosen in favor of another that meets the requirements of the spec better.
We also require a bid bond of 10% and a 100 % performance bond with late penalties at contract signing. That will keep the "backyard builders out of contention in most cases.
We generally have multiple bids submitted for our RFP's.

I ended up finding a clause allowing us to direct send specs as long as we posted in a newspaper. Looks like we are posting it locally.

Does anyone know if the equipment purchased from AFG funds must be on the AEL or SEL?

Are ther any directives that say you cannot post a notice to bid in some obscure newspaper a thousand miles away? I understand it is done all the time according to my lawyer friends.

No. They do NOT need to be on the AEL or SEL, but they do need to be in accordance with the program guidance

Yeah, She got a weekend pass from FLW so she came back to get more of her stuff. Saves me a trip later.

Brian I saw the weather forecast for up there. Looks like you will not be getting break by going north.
