Default I hate to do this...

    Ok guys (and gals),

I'm looking for three incidents where firefighters were injured or killed due to inadequate size-up by company officers. I've found one about a fire in Houston on Easter, but have failed to find any more. Maybe if you could mention a few and I'll find them, or post links to the stories.

    Thanks,
    CGITCH

I searched NIOSH LODD reports for "Size up" and got several, here are the results...

    Here's one from Houston...

    And another from Ohio...

Another good resource to search through is www.firefighterclosecalls.com.

It was Manlius NY and that was the coldest damn funeral I ever stood in, rain, wind talk about miserable, but we lined that street in Syracuse for that brother proudly!

These incidents were very unfortunate but we do use these as examples during our sizeup training as well as radio communications training. There are good videos on the entire incidents, commentary and interviews we use. I would post a link but ours are so old they are on video tape so I don't know if they are out there or not.
