Default Paramedic Programs on the West Coast?

I have my BS and am finishing up my EMT-B in Oregon and am considering my options for continuing to get my EMT-P. I am familiar with medic schools in Oregon (OHSU, Chemeketa CC) - but not so much for other west coast states.

Does anyone know and can recommend well respected paramedic programs on the West Coast that I can begin to research? Specifically I am considering OR, WA, CA, NV, UT, and AZ. Thanks!

    Default Paramedic Schools-Southern California

    *Daniel Freeman-Los Angeles
    * PTI (Paramedic Training Institute)-Los Angeles
    Mt. San Antonio College-Walnut, CA.
    Saddleback College- Mission Viejo, CA
    Crafton Hills College, Yucaipa, CA.
*UCSD (Univ. of Calif. at San Diego) San Diego CA.

These are just to name a few. There are a few more smaller programs that have popped up over the last several years, but these are the one's that have been around for a long time. The two schools with asterisks (*) denotes programs that are typically and perennially attended by firefighters or train many of the fire departments. The others will accept both fire and private sector personnel. They are all National Registry program.

    Hope this helps!!

    Bay area:

    1) Santa Rosa Junior College - Sonoma County (45 mins north of SF)
    2) San Francisco City College
    3) Foothill Junior College (I believe in Palo Alto 20 mins south of SF)

These are the top 3 junior college programs in the area. There are several private schools that cost 5 times as much and happen about 5 times as frequently if you get my drift.

The problem with JCs is they only start once a year with specific pre-reqs. But in my opinion offer a much more valuable education. Santa Rosa is a tough program with good clinical resources and internship opportunities and is part of the national accreditation process and highly ranked I believe.

The most prestigious program in Washington is Mike Smith's program at Tacoma Community College. Mike is a nationally known lecturer and author and has run this program for over 20 years. It's of course a registry program as well. Be warned that TCC is also known for its wash out rate. When I went through back in the 90s we lost 6 of our 24 during the 12 month program.

Oregon requires a two year degree now, but you probably know that.
