A couple of guys here at work and I are battling over apparatus that the FDNY has had.
The debate centers around whether the FDNY has ever had an E-One Ladder truck, or a Pierce ladder truck. Not as a one off but as part of a regular order of fire apparatus.
Thanks.

I consider myself an FDNY Apparatus "amateur enthusiast."
To my knowledge, there never has been an E-One or Pierce Aerial. The E-One and Pierce vehicles shown in various TV shows such as Rescue Me, Third Watch, Etc. have never been official FDNY vehicles.
There was one demonstrator E-One pumper a few moons ago, that basically self-destructed after 2-3 years of being assigned to some busy companies.
If you can't get a hold of MM, let me know and I will email "The Master and Commander of all things FDNY Apparatus."Last edited by FWDbuff; 07-03-2010 at 07:01 AM.

The FDNY also has a few " Ferrara " engines and a " Spartan chassis engine " that is used only for funerals, and let's not forget the Pierce Rescue 1 !

Thanks for the info E40FDNYL35.
A little personal satisfaction for me since a huge bet of a can of pop was riding on this question!! Diet Mountain Dew the nectar of the soda Gods!!“The person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing, is nothing, and becomes nothing. I don't have a choice on the Diet Dew. I am an original Mountain Dew drinker from 1966 when it first hit the market. I even still have the original promotional giveaways. They were a black felt hill billy hat with a feather and a corn cob pipe. I was hooked from my first taste.
To be honest, having drank the Diet Dew for almost 4 years now I can't stand the taste of the sugared regular Dew anymore!“The person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing, is nothing, and becomes nothing. TL14 had a 1984 ALF/LTI tower (see link below) which was sort of an odd combo at that period of time. This was even before Simon bought LTI and way before LTI was taken over by Freightliner/ALF.

There might be some confusion but I have seen both an E-one and I think Pierce Ladder that looks like an FDNY rig.
I saw it on the Streets of Manhattan and It would be the rig they use for shooting that godawful show with Dennis Leary.
We saw it one day and couldn't figure out WTF it was until we put two and two together...was numbered Ladder 60 something or another.
However it most certainly isn't an FDNY rig.

ps- The E-one pumper they tried in the 90s was run at I believe Engine 8 275 and 290 I believe...it was last seen on the back of a tow truck as the story goes.
