Driver / Operator Job Description

Does anyone have a good job or position description for pumper Driver / Operator? I've been asked to come up w/ one and figured that with all the years of experience on this forum asking is easier than trying to reinvent the wheel.

You're going to get alot of different answers to your question. Depending on the area that you're in, some will be recognized and accepted, and others, not so well.

We call ours FAE's, Fire Apparatus Engineers. They drive the rigs, and operate them on scene. This goes for both the pumpers and the aerials. Since they are "working" FF's, they do not get a rank associated with it, such as Sgt, as some do.

Description:

The Apparatus Driver Operator - Pumper is a person that can safely operate an apparatus equipped with a permanently mounted with a pump and all systems associated with the apparatus and pump, safely operate the apparatus over streets and highways, establish a water supply from an internal, external static or pressurized water source, operate pump to supply various size attack handlines or master streams, set-up and support operations using foam and built-in fire protection systems using a standpipe and operate pump during a relay pumping operation.
