Our local PD mentioned interest in obtaining digital recorders for their patrol cars. I have no insight into Police grants. Anyone know of something that would fund this type of equipment?

Suggest they hold some pancake breakfasts and spagetti suppers (on their time). See what response you get. Perhaps a pay cut.
Cops need equipment fundings. Riiiight?

Oh Kenny,
Do I ever feel your pain. At our department meeting last wednesday, our mayor (and my best friend) was sitting next to me and I really let go on our villages cooperation that last twenty years.
Hey grants get you on the inside of understanding all operating budgets that affect you. Kurt, thank you sooo much. When I speak now, at least they listen with respect if not happy about the topics.
So yes Kenny, you and I will work on it to a mutual undestanding.

Wow, folks. Are we vitriolic or what here? When your daughter gets raped, or your car gets stolen do you call a fellow FF? PPPPUUUULLLLEEEZZZE!
Different task, different hat, different funding source, SAME BOSS! John Q. Public! The officer on the street can no more control their budget source than you can. He/She is working to keep you safe just as hard as you are.
Tell that drivel to the 2 widows and 5 orphans who just buried their father's at Tampa PD killed in LODD and executed in the head by a scumbag last week who I will now have to support for the next 20 years in prison while he is awaiting the needle.Tell that to the 2 Polk County Deputies gunned down three days before that and critically wounded who will both probably never return to street duty for the rest of their career.
Yes I am biased being retired as a LEO. Did you know that most LEA's are prohibited by their city, from holding fundraiser's. When was the last time you got personally sued for trying to put out a fire, yet LEOs are not immune from lawsuits for "stunning" a drug crazed individual instead of " capping" them.
I have stood side by side with my combination FD brothers and flipped many a pancake and endured the 100+ degree heat to pass a boot for them in the intersections of my city.
Folks we are all public safety employees regardless of the color or shape of the hat you wear; you all deserve the very best of equipment and a decent wage that you can live on. Hinesfire, I help ANY public safety agency regardless of their source of operating budget!
